Library Search

A student looks at books in the library

Library Search is the gateway to the Library's print and electronic resources. The fast, simple search covers books, journals, databases, articles and much more.

In line with our Covid-19 safety measures, for now you won't be able to browse the books on our shelves, but instead you can make use of our handy click & collect service.

Library Search can make your academic life easier by helping you to find a range of reliable and trustworthy sources for your work.  It contains a wealth of information to help you make the most of your studies, including books/eBooks, journals/eJournals, articles, databases, past exam papers, the University’s research, the University’s Archives and Special Collections and more.

Library Search also has advanced features which can save you time and help you get better results.  Library Search can help you:

  • Save (‘pin’) the resources you find
  • Save your search and set alerts
  • Organise the sources you find
  • Filter your results so that they are more manageable
  • Reference what you find

Library Search upgrade

We will be moving to a new version of Library Search on 22nd June, 2021. There are not any immediate changes to how Library Search works or looks but it will allow us to make improvements to the service in future. It also means information about the resources available in the Library will be updated more quickly.

Any ‘Saved Items’ in ‘My Favourites’ will be copied to the new version on 22nd June but if you have any ‘Saved Searches’ you will need to recreate these.

How to recreate your Saved Searches

Before 22nd June, carry out the following actions to see which searches you have set up:

  • Log in to Library Search
  • Click on your name in the top right-hand corner
  • Choose 'Saved Items' from the drop-down menu
  • Choose 'Saved Searches'
  • Review the searches and make a note of any which you want to keep.

After 22nd June, you will need to:

  • Log in to Library Search
  • Carry out the search in the new version of Library Search
  • Click on 'Save Query' at the top of the results
  • If you want to be alerted to new results, click on ‘Turn on notification for this query’.

If you need any help or more information, please contact the Library.
