Occupational therapy facilities
As an occupational therapy student at the University of Salford, you will get to use our purpose-built rehabilitation flat, which provides the opportunity to learn and practice skills within a secure and realistic environment.
Designed with a functioning kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, you will experience how to use a range of equipment and daily living aids that an occupational therapist may use to assist a patient to perform an activity.
You will also have access to the occupational therapy resource room where you'll find a variety of equipment designed to aid and support people. This includes splinting, personal care, memory devices, and much more.

BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy
Our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy course is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). It has been designed to help you understand function and dysfunction in the mind and body.
You’ll work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, cultures, and conditions to help them achieve daily tasks. This course is taught by experienced lecturers who have worked clinically as occupational therapists in a variety of settings, including internationally. You will look at the societal and institutional contexts of illness and health, as well as ethical issues in healthcare delivery.
While on your course, you will combine academic study with practice placements that will help you develop professional and personal skills.
BSC (Hons) Occupational Therapy – Extended Route
Starting in September 2025, our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy – Extended Route is designed with flexibility in mind, making it ideal for those balancing work, caring responsibilities, or other commitments.
This route follows a three-semester structure across the academic year, with a study schedule of approximately 22.5 hours per week. In addition to this, you’ll also complete full-time practice education placements – gaining the same clinical experience and qualifications as the standard course.
