As an occupational therapy student at the University of Salford, you’ll learn in environments designed to mirror real practice. Our purpose-built rehabilitation flat allows you to learn and practice skills within a secure and realistic environment. 

With a working kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, you’ll use equipment and daily living aids that occupational therapists rely on when supporting patients at home. 

You will also have access to our occupational therapy resource room. Here, you'll learn to use a range of specialist equipment to help people live more independently, including splinting, personal care, and memory devices.

BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy

On BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy course, you’ll understand function and dysfunction in the mind and body. You’ll work with people from diverse backgrounds, ages, cultures, and health conditions, supporting them to complete everyday tasks. 

Our teaching team includes experienced occupational therapists who have worked across various clinical settings, including internationally. Together, you’ll explore the social, institutional, and ethical factors that shape illness, recovery, and healthcare delivery. 

You’ll combine academic learning with placements that build your confidence, skills, and professional judgement. 

BSC (Hons) Occupational Therapy – Extended Route

Our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy – Extended Route offers a flexible way to train while balancing work, caring responsibilities, or other commitments. 

You’ll still study across three semesters each academic year, with approximately 22.5 hours per week. Alongside this, you’ll complete full-time practice education placements – gaining the same clinical experience and qualifications as the standard course. 

This flexible pathway is fully accredited and delivered by experienced professionals, so you can build a rewarding career in occupational therapy while maintaining a healthy study-life balance.
