What happens if you do not meet your offer conditions?

Find out what options may be available if your results are different from what you expected.

If you do not meet all the conditions of your offer, try not to worry. Your place will not be confirmed automatically, but we may still be able to accept you or offer you an alternative.

This page is a summary of our admissions process, including how we assess applications and make offers. It does not replace the University's Admissions Policy, which remains the authoritative source of information.

We may still be able to confirm your place

We will consider whether we can accept you even if you have not met all the conditions of your offer.

This is not guaranteed. We will let you know our decision and explain what happens next.

You may receive an alternative offer

If we cannot confirm your place on your original course, we may be able to offer you:

  • a similar course
  • an associated foundation course
  • a place on the next available intake, where appropriate

If your course is full

If your course is full when you meet your conditions, we may offer you:

  • the next available intake for the course
  • an alternative course
  • a refund of your deposit, where applicable

Tell us about exceptional circumstances

Tell us as soon as possible if difficult circumstances affected your education, assessments or results.

These could include but are not limited to:

  • a disability or long-term health condition
  • bereavement
  • difficult home or family circumstances
  • another event that affected your education or assessments

We may consider formally declared exceptional circumstances when we receive your results. We will also consider whether your examination board has already taken them into account.

If you're waiting for a re-mark or appeal

Tell us immediately if you have requested a re-mark or appealed a result with your awarding body.

We will make every effort to reconsider your application if your grade changes following a successful re-mark. However, we may not be able to keep your original offer open while you wait.

If your grade changes but your original course is full, we may offer you an alternative course or a different entry year.
