How we assess undergraduate applications

Students at the University of Salford

Find out how we make decisions on undergraduate applications, including the factors we consider and the types of offers we make.

We assess every application individually. We consider your qualifications alongside other information that helps us understand your suitability for the course and your potential to succeed.

Meeting the entry requirements does not automatically guarantee an offer, particularly if a course receives more suitable applications than it has places available.

This page is a summary of our admissions process, including how we assess applications and make offers. It does not replace the University's Admissions Policy, which remains the authoritative source of information.

What we consider

Depending on your course and the information you provide, we may consider:

  • qualifications you have already completed
  • predicted results for qualifications you're still studying
  • your personal statement or supporting statement
  • relevant work experience for selected courses
  • your academic reference
  • written work, a portfolio or evidence of professional experience for selected courses
  • contextual information, where applicable

Some courses also require an interview, audition or another assessment. If this applies to your course, we will contact you with details of what you need to do.

Applications are assessed by trained staff in our academic faculties and Admissions team. Admissions reviews and authorises decisions to support fairness and consistency.
