About UCAS Tariff points
What are UCAS Tariff points?
UCAS Tariff points convert your qualifications and grades into a single numerical score. Most, but not all, qualifications are assigned a Tariff value, which depends on both the type of qualification and the grade you achieved. Universities use these points to help determine if you meet the entry requirements for their courses.
How are UCAS Tariff points used?
We use UCAS Tariff points to indicate the entry requirements for our courses. However, we may also accept qualifications that do not have Tariff points, so please check the specific entry requirements for your chosen course carefully.
I can't find my qualification on the UCAS points calculator, does this mean it's not accepted?

How do UCAS Tariff points work during Clearing?
Clearing allows you to apply for university courses that still have available places. You can apply to a course through Clearing if you haven’t applied anywhere yet, have changed your mind about your original choices, or don’t get the grades you need for your firm or insurance choices, and still want to start this year.
You’ll need to use our calculator above to work out your Tariff points before contacting our team. In Clearing, the Tariff points on many of our courses can change. If you’re applying through Clearing, calculate your points and get in touch with our team to discuss your options.

How to use the UCAS Tariff Calculator
- Choose your qualification from the dropdown menu.
- Select the grade you achieved.
- Click the ‘Add points to calculator’ button to include it in your calculation.
- Repeat for each qualification you wish to add.
- Your total UCAS Tariff points will be displayed.
- To remove a qualification, click the ‘remove’ button next to it in your list.
