Important Announcements
Visa 'brake' announced on student visas for nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan

The UK has announced a “visa brake” that will block new overseas Student visa applications from nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar, and Sudan starting 26 March 2026. This does not affect people from these countries who are already inside the UK on valid visas.

Changes to Graduate visas from 1 January 2027

From 1 January 2027, most UK Graduate visas will shorten from 2 years to 18 months, but PhD graduates will still receive 3 years. Anyone who applies before 1 January 2027 keeps the current, longer duration.

eVisas - creating a UKVI account to prove your immigration status

eVisas replaced physical immigration documents (such as biometric residence permits) on 1 January 2025. In order for you to access 

Scams targeting international students

We occasionally receive reports of scams involving telemarketers claiming to be from HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) stating that the University has not paid tax that you owe. HMRC will never directly call you asking for money and will never ask you to any money on behalf of the University.

There are no services at MediaCity during Trimester 3 and Vacation times. However, you can travel on the 50 bus between campuses for free, Monday to Friday, from 05:00-22:30 with your student ID card.
