Self-Funding Students and How to Pay Your Fees
This page provides information about how to pay your tuition fees as a self-funding student. You will be asked for information about how you will pay your tuition fees during the online registration process, and you'll need to provide this information in order to successfully complete registration.

How to pay your tuition fees
We only accept payment through the following methods:
- Debit or credit card via our online payment system from any worldwide card.
- Bank transfer from an overseas bank account using Flywire.
- In instalments by debit or credit card set up at registration online - Recurring Card Payment (RCP)
We do not accept cash or direct bank transfers. If we receive any payments direct to our Lloyds bank account they will be rejected. This could then delay your offer of study or payment of remaining tuition fees.

Using debit/credit card
You can pay tuition fees online with a debit/credit card via our online payments centre.
Payments with Flywire
We have partnered with Flywire to offer a secure way for international students to make tuition fee payments from your home country. You can pay your international deposit/s starting from £5500.00 or full academic year's fee.

Instalment plans
We offer instalment plans for payment of your tuition fees. The instalment plan you are offered will depend on which course type you are studying. Most instalment plans start one month after course commencement date and run over consecutive months.
- Undergraduate students: during online registration, self-funding undergraduate students are offered the option of five monthly instalments or payment in full to receive a 3% discount
- Postgraduate students: during online registration, self-funding postgraduate students are offered the choice of seven consecutive monthly instalments or payment in full to receive a 3% discount. Home (UK) postgraduate students will also be offered the option of three termly instalments - this is in line with postgraduate loan payments from Student Finance.
Please note that failure to keep up with instalments may result in your student status being cancelled and you will be asked to leave your course.
Changing the payment card for your instalment plan
Do you need to change the card you have your instalment plan set up with? Please visit our payments portal and enter the email address used when you set your plan up. A secure email will then be sent to you where you can update your card details.
Why we do not accept cash
For security reasons the University does not accept cash for payment of Tuition Fees. We do not recommend students carry large amounts of cash. If you are considering bringing cash into the UK for other purposes, then please be aware that there are laws around the amounts you can bring/need to declare. Further information can be found on the Gov.uk site.
Prompt payment discount
You can qualify for a 3% discount on your tuition fees as a self-funding student if you pay in full at or before registration.
- If you pay in full via Flywire, you can send your payment in full minus the 3%.
- If you have already paid 100% of your fees at or before registration, you can request a refund of the 3% overpayment by contacting the Income and Treasury team after registration. Please note the refund will be credited back to the original payer using the same method of payment.
Additional information for international students
Both undergraduate and postgraduate international students are also required to pay a deposit/s starting from £5500.00, unless you are sponsored (see the information for sponsored students on our Tuition Fees page). This deposit is only refundable in the event of a visa refusal, for reasons other than fraud.
If you have applied for our International Foundation Year, the deposit amount you need to pay may be different. Please check your offer letter for the deposit amount you will be required to pay to receive your unconditional offer.

Keeping your money safe
Avoid fraudulent payments
Students are often targeted by fraudsters, so you need to be careful with how you're paying and who you're paying. We have a zero-tolerance policy to fraud, which can have a serious impact on whether you can study or continue studying with the University.
We recommend you think about the following things when it comes to your tuition fees.
- Only pay from your account or that of a close relative/friend you can trust
- Only pay your fees to the University directly or by using Flywire
- Do not make payment to ‘Agents’ or allow them to pay on your behalf
- Do not share your personal details to allow others to pay on your behalf
- Be wary of anyone other than the University offering a discount on your fees - this is likely to be fraudulent
- Always check with the University if you aren't sure whether an email is legitimate
If any payment is found to be fraudulent:
- Your offer of study will be withdrawn if you are an applicant
- Sanctions will be applied if you are a current student
Verifying the payment source
The UK, EU and US financial regulators have imposed financial sanctions on certain individuals, companies and banks.
As a University, we have an obligation to know where all the payments we receive are coming from, so we sometimes complete extra checks regarding the origin of your fee payment. Any student may be required to provide further payment information.
If your nationality or permanent residence is that of a country currently sanctioned, you may be contacted and asked to complete a questionnaire about who is paying your fees. If you are an applicant and you receive an offer letter stating you must complete the questionnaire, please complete the questionnaire before paying a study deposit.
