Mini MBA for Allied Health Professionals

Allied Health Professionals play a pivotal role in realising the objectives of the NHS 10-Year Plan by supporting the population to live healthier and more active lives through education, prevention and therapeutic interventions.

As AHP services continue to shift from acute hospital environments to community-based settings, supported by increasingly sophisticated digital technologies, the profession is uniquely positioned to make a significant contribution to transforming models of care.

Through these developments, AHPs can directly influence progress across the NHS by improving accessibility, promoting self-management, and reducing demand on acute services. The Mini MBA for AHPs provides a structured and valuable continuing professional development opportunity, enabling participants to develop the strategic, operational, and leadership capabilities required to deliver effectively against the three strategic shifts of the NHS 10-Year Plan within their professional roles.

Strategic Planning

This day focuses on strengthening strategic planning capability for Allied Health Professionals by applying proven management tools within the context of the NHS 10-Year Plan. Using frameworks such as SWOT, PESTEL, participants will explore how external pressures, policy priorities, and internal capabilities shape strategic choices for AHP services.

The session is firmly anchored in the three strategic shifts of the NHS: moving care from hospital to community settings, accelerating the transition from analogue to digital services, and shifting the focus from sickness to prevention.

Through practical application, participants will learn how to translate these national priorities into clear strategic objectives, measurable outcomes, and aligned service plans that support sustainable, patient-centred care and long-term system transformation.

Operational Excellence

This day on Operational Excellence introduces Allied Health Professionals to practical approaches for improving services in line with organisational strategy and patient value. Participants will explore how to set the context for business change, understand and optimise business processes and value streams, and use digital technologies to enhance operational performance.

The session also highlights agile ways of working to respond to changing demands, the role of data and analytics in informed decision-making, and the impact of culture, leadership, and behaviour on successful change.
