Salford Professional Development (SPD) are delighted to once again have The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) join us as the official media partner for the 11th Annual Operating Theatres Conference, taking place on 5 February 2026 at the CorpAcq Stadium, Manchester.

This CPD-certified event brings together hundreds of surgical professionals from across the UK to explore the latest innovations, strategies and best practices in operating theatre management. This year’s conference will focus on key topics shaping the future of perioperative care, including achieving NHS Net Zero, human factors in theatre performance, high-intensity theatre (HIT) lists, 3D surgical planning, infection control, patient outcomes and staff wellbeing.

Chaired by Dr. Nigel Roberts, Associate Divisional Director for Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, the day will feature keynotes, interactive panels and real-world case studies designed to inspire collaboration and improve surgical efficiency and patient care.

We’re proud to welcome back AfPP as our media partner and exhibitor for another year. Their continued involvement reflects a shared commitment to advancing excellence and safety across operating theatres nationwide.

As the UK’s leading membership organisation for perioperative practitioners, AfPP supports professionals in developing their skills, staying up to date with clinical standards, and maintaining best practice. The Association’s mission is centred on improving patient care and safety through:

  • Setting and promoting standards of excellence in perioperative practice
  • Providing education and professional development opportunities
  • Offering expert advice and guidance for practitioners
  • Creating a platform for collaboration between healthcare and industry
  • Influencing policy and practice across the surgical landscape

AfPP members benefit from access to a wide range of educational resources, study days, webinars and events, including their flagship Annual Conference. Members also receive the Journal of Perioperative Practice and Innovation, People and Practice magazine throughout the year, alongside professional advice and practice support services.

Their continued collaboration with SPD helps ensure that the Operating Theatres Conference remains a leading forum for learning, sharing insight, and fostering best practice in theatre management and patient care.

We’re thrilled to have AfPP joining us again this year to connect with delegates, share their expertise and showcase their ongoing work to promote excellence in perioperative practice.
