Biography
I obtained my BEng and PhD degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Liverpool, where I later worked as a Senior Research Fellow (Impact Research Centre) and later at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. I became the Head of School of Engineering and Manufacture at University College Salford. I am currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing, Science & Engineering at the University of Salford.
My main research activities involve the testing and analyses of the mechanical properties of metals, polymers, advanced composites and rubbers. I also specialise in the design and production of instrumented testing machines for determining the properties of materials. I have been involved with numerous research projects in prototype testing and type qualification for the nuclear, automotive, railway, gas and chemical industries.
