With a state-of-the-art campus at MediaCity, we encourage creative collaboration between students, specialist technicians, academics, and the media production industry.
Located alongside the BBC, ITV and over 250 digital and media businesses our studios and specialist spaces are equipped with industry standard hardware and software. These superb facilities play a central role in the professional training of our students, creating graduates who go on to apply their skills across the world.
The student journey at our MediaCity campus is underpinned by our Creative Technical Team, who provide expert support and demonstration.
Audio production and post-production
A range of studios dedicated to the professional creation, editing, mixing and mastering of audio for film and television. All hardware and software matched to industry partners such as Dock 10, BBC and ITV.
- Main studios feature Avid S6 consoles with MTRX monitoring control with 7.1.4 Genelec Dolby Atmos monitoring systems.

Digital Media Performance Lab
Large and flexible, this double height space combines the technology of a TV studio with the excitement of live theatre and cinema.
Ideal for interactive performances and immersive digital exhibitions, it is used for a variety of productions such as live streaming events, master class seminars, motion picture filming, theatre shows, bespoke virtual productions and even music videos. The Digital Media Performance Lab is a modular, multifaceted event space with skilled Creative Technical Demonstrators ready to support your project,
- Full 4k Digital Laser projection and high- definition projection screen (viewable area: 4.3m x 7.8m)
- Retractable bleachers style seating with capacity of 110.
- Comprehensive lighting rig with moving heads, production lighting and theatre fixtures.
- Full height theatre drapes on a perimeter track with fly out wings.
- Extensive fibre optic and digital network infrastructure for multiple high-speed high definition video and audio connections.
- Lectern with microphone and input to screen and additional floor fibre connectivity to the gallery.
- Broadcast Gallery for playback, vision mixing, streaming and recording.
- Adjacent green room and dressing room with full changing and shower facilities
Fabrication Lab
A specialist workshop designed to encourage creative collaboration in model and prototype making for design and experimentation across disciplines, including Production Design and Animation.

Media and technical equipment stores
There are two media and technical equipment stores at the MediaCity campus. One is dedicated to our Film Production programme and the other supports our Broadcast Media, Journalism and Technology programmes.
Our stores operate an equipment loan service to the students based at our MediaCity campus for use on assignments and projects.

Radio studios
Four cutting edge radio studios using the same hardware and software as the BBC's current radio studios.
Studio A and C feature separate live and control rooms, while Studios B and D are self-op facilities- ideal for podcasts.
The studios provide excellent recording spaces and have been previously used for live contributions to shows on BBC Radio 2, talkSPORT and Capital.

Stop-frame studio
Five animation booths equipped with industry standard lighting, grip, software and cameras. The booths are versatile and can be configured to meet a variety of production needs.

Home to Quays TV, the student TV channel, our TV news studio is a fully equipped space based on current BBC and ITV standards.

The Development Lab
The Development Lab is a versatile and dedicated Research and Development space for innovative virtual and immersive experiences. It currently facilitates a Virtual Production Research Group of Academics, Researchers and Creative Technicians to support the growth of creative technology in research, teaching and through collaborative partnerships.
