Salford launches new Construction Apprenticeship programme starting September 2023

Categories: School of Science, Engineering and Environment

The University of Salford has announced the launch of a brand-new programme to develop and create the professionals that construction firms need.

Construction is one of the largest employers in the UK, and there is currently a large skills shortage in the sector, with a need for professionals who possess the right knowledge and insight to lead and problem solve in real-life projects.

Starting from September 2023, the Construction Site Supervisor Level 4 Apprenticeship programme, completed over two years, will enable students to study and complete a valuable apprenticeship, developing crucial industry related skills.

Being delivered by one of the UK's leading centres for built environment education, students will study a wide range of construction and property-related topics. Those who complete the course will achieve Professional registration as TechCIOB as well as have an industry recognised qualification supporting future career development and will also have the option of progressing onto the Construction Site Management Level 6 apprenticeship upon completion.

The course is completed over a 2-year period, with all students completing six key modules over the course of their study including Construction Management Practice, Sustainable Construction Technology, Building Services and Sustainability, Construction Law, Procedure and Regulation, Management and Project Delivery, and a collaborative Integrated Project, with all being delivered through face-to face lessons at Salford.

Paul Grayson will lead the course at Salford. He said: “Studying the Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship programme allows you to develop the skills needed in industry, and test these out on real life construction scenarios.

“All our programmes are delivered by a team of professionals, who bring their industry knowledge and experience into the educational setting, linking with national and international contractors to develop a complete learning package, tailored to meet the needs of employers.”
