Wellbeing

The Doctoral School has a Steering Group, run by and for our postgraduate research community, which helps us to plan our support activities. With a focus on wellbeing and a healthy work/life balance, the Doctoral School organises social events, days out, craft sessions and networking lunches. We are particularly proud of our Doctoral School choir, which meets regularly at lunchtimes for a stretch, a deep breath and a laugh. Being able to sing is not the point, but we think the results sound pretty good.

Social Events

The Doctoral School believes that all researchers should enjoy a healthy work-life balance. To support that, we provide regular social activities, as suggested by our PGR community. This includes a recent Christmas day-trip to local stately home, Lyme Park. The outing was particularly enjoyable for our international students, who appreciated the experience of a traditional festive season. Our participants found the experience “very relaxing with an overdose of oxygen”. “It was fun together with all of you, I look forward to another trip.”
