Getting fit for the future
Our pioneering heritage
Since our beginnings as the Salford Royal Technical Institute in 1896, we have been industry focused and daring, developing the skills of working people for nearly 125 years. Our location sets us apart and continues to drive our strong industry links. Our campus is just 2km from Manchester with easy transport routes and opportunities to connect with industry in an internationally recognised city home to many growing industries, such as digital, sports business and the built environment. We are supporting many growing areas with partnerships with organisations of all types and sizes. We're proud to have more partnerships with SMEs than any other Greater Manchester university. We are also the only university with a MediaCityUK campus, sitting right next to neighbours such as ITV and the BBC.
Our legacy
Our work with industry sets us apart. Strong partnerships with the likes of Siemens, NHS Trusts and The Lowry add depth to existing courses, enabling the alignment of our strengths with the needs of industry, and making our courses more attractive to potential students.
These partnerships open up employment opportunities for students, build profile for academics and provide impact and application of research outcomes. They also create opportunities for guest lectures, sponsored PhDs, bursaries and sponsorship to support teaching, learning and research.
Here you'll work with colleagues who are experts in their fields, regularly undertaking inspiring and innovative research that directly informs our teaching bringing real-world experience to our students, allow our teaching colleagues to advance their knowledge, and bring tangible benefits to communities around us.
Our culture
Supporting our diverse colleague and student population to do their best work and pursue their passions both inside and outside of work is a really important part of life at Salford. Life is more important than simply "work" and "life" and we encourage flexible and agile working options including opportunities to buy additional annual leave on top of your yearly allowance to help you find the right balance. Plus you'll get extra days at Christmas time so you can enjoy the festive season. We support you when you need it with other benefits like the Employee Assistance programme, family friendly benefits, a significant Pension, career development and much more.
TOGETHER WE ARE UNDAUNTED, FACING INTO THE CHANGES IN OUR SECTOR, OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR WORLD TO BECOME UNSTOPPABLE.
