Further information

Thank you for booking a place on our Undergraduate Open Day. We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Open Day will run from 09:30 until 16:00, but the length of your day depends on the sessions you would like to attend. Around two weeks before your event, we will email you with a full schedule of the day. This will include all of the sessions on offer and the timings of these, so you can plan your day in advance. We'll also provide information on how to find us and what to do when you arrive on campus.

We look forward to meeting you in person soon, but in the meantime, we have provided some information about the University, planning your day and how to get in touch with us.

Where on Earth is Salford?

Open Day travel bursary

Choosing where to study is an important decision. One of the best ways of doing this is to come along and visit campus. The financial cost of doing that can add up quickly though, so we’d like to reimburse you for some of your travel expenses to support your visit.

If you live in Greater Manchester, we'll contribute £15 to the cost of your visit; for anyone coming from further afield, we'll contribute £40.

You wont need to provide any travel receipts, just check-in on the day and you will then be able to claim your travel costs back. We will provide full guidance on how to do this at the Open Day.

Planning your day

When you arrive on the day, we will direct you to one of our three campuses to check-in. This will depend on your chosen subject so be sure to check this in advance. Check-in will open from 09:30 and to check-in, you will need to provide your QR code (this will be sent to you via email several days before the event). You will then be given an Open Day guide containing information about all the sessions available during the day, including which campus your subject session will take place on. We will also post this out to you a few weeks in advance.

Each subject session will run at least twice, once in the morning around 10:45 and once in the afternoon from 13:30, so if you are interested in more than one subject, you will be able to attend multiple sessions.

We will also have lots of optional sessions running throughout the day. Most of these will run multiple times throughout the day, and on each campus, so you should be able to plan your day in advance based on the sessions you would like to attend.

The optional sessions include:

  • Welcome talk
  • Campus tour
  • Accommodation tour
  • Student finance and budgeting
  • Student support at Salford
  • Applying to University (interviews and portfolios, personal statement support and the UCAS process)

You will have indicated which optional sessions you are interested in when you booked your place, however you are welcome to change your mind at any stage, including on the day.

How to find us

By car

On the day of the Open Day, there will be free parking available in our Peel Park and Frederick Road campus car parks. We do not have University parking at our MediaCity campus but will provide coaches between MediaCity and Peel Park campus on the day.

If your subject session takes place on Peel Park campus, we suggest you use the Lowry and Delaney car parks (M5 4NJ), or Irwell Place car park (postcode M5 4WT).

If your subject session takes place on our Frederick Road campus, please use Mary Seacole car park (accessed from Broad Street/the A6) or Allerton car park (accessed from Frederick Road). For both these car parks, use postcode M6 6PU.

If you would prefer to park at MediaCity, you should use the Garage car park (M50 2HE).

By public transport

If your subject is taught on our Peel Park or Frederick Road campuses, we are easily accessible by train and bus, with Salford Crescent train station located directly on the campus.

If your subject is taught on MediaCity campus, we are easily accessible by tram and bus, with services direct to MediaCity and services that stop walking distance from MediaCity.

Chat with our students

Many of our students will be supporting the Open Day - some in subject sessions and others around campus in their red hoodies - so be sure to ask them about their student experience!

In the meantime feel free to chat with our students here and ask any questions you may have about their university experience. Click the arrow on the right to move through the student profiles.
