What do I need to include in my portfolio?

A portfolio is a collection that will form a representation of the work you have developed throughout your studies (A levels, BTEC, or any other art/design-related subject) or in your own time.

The portfolio does not need to be architectural, but we like to see an interest or affinity with architecture in your work. You may include a range of your work, from freehand drawing/sketching to 3D work to visual or conceptual ideas.

See our Portfolio Submission Guide >>

How will I be assessed during my course?

You will be assessed using a combination of design projects, essays, design portfolios, exams, case study analysis, and precedent studies, so you can truly demonstrate your abilities.

Which facilities will I have access to?

As an Architecture student at Salford, you will learn in the purpose-built design studios in our flagship New Adelphi building. You will also have access to our workshops which house high specification equipment, including laser cutters and 3D printers.

What is the difference between an Architect and an Architectural Engineer?

An architect is trained to focus more on the artistry and design of a building, whilst an Architectural Engineer focuses on the technical and structural side of the build, applying science and technology to the real world in order to enhance our standard of living and quality of life.
