Salford’s first Festival of Research starts next week
“We all contribute to research…join the celebration”
Don’t forget our first Festival of Research (25 June–20 July) will be starting next week. The month-long festival seeks to celebrate research activity in its entirety, as well as enabling us to share knowledge with each other and the wider community.
During the festival we’ll be showcasing the excellent research already underway with industry, as well as hosting sessions on funding for further joint activity, and a symposium examining the challenges and opportunities that come when academics and industry work together.
The main event: 2 – 6 July, MediaCityUK
* Vitae sponsored research working with industry symposium
* Early Career Researcher Conferences, SPARC (Salford’s Postgraduate Annual Researcher Conference)
* School showcases – exploring the research we do
* Writing retreats for authors and REF related Impact statements
* Research informed pedagogy workshops
Research in the Park (6 July) is aimed at both schools and members of the public. Researchers will be delivering informal talks in our Speakers’ Corner.
The Library Happening (2 July – 20 July) is a programme of research-related film screenings, performances, exhibitions and music in the Clifford Whitworth Library running for three weeks .
Bite-Sized! Video Abstract Competition – join in and cast your vote! Get your research message out there, enter Bite-sized! and compile a short video abstract of your work.
The Purple Tent is a series of specially selected events that follow a ‘purple theme’ and will be hosted as part of our Purple Tent. Expect popular music and performance associated with the colour purple, linking in with Dementia awareness organisations and the anniversary of the suffragette movement.
Café Research provides an excellent opportunity to find out about research over a coffee or cocktail. Our Café Research pop-up will be making an appearance across the campus and at partner outlets in central Manchester over the duration of the festival.
