Historical Salford walking tour

On Saturday 31st March a not-to-be-missed walking tour will be take you on a journey from “Cathedral to Cathedral”. The tour will venture from Manchester Cathedral to Salford Cathedral, finishing at the Salford Museum and Art Gallery on campus. The tour has been created with  in conjunction with Salford City Council and provides a unique insight into the history of our city and its connection to Manchester.

The tour will be conducted by award winning local tour guide Jonathan Schofield, who alongside being a tour guide for over 20 years is also the Editor of Manchester Books Limited and has written several books on the North West. He is a regular broadcaster on local and national radio recently appearing on Melvyn Bragg’s The Matter of the North on Radio 4.

Schofield’s award award-winning tours have included Radical Manchester, the Incredible Interiors, Chetham’s Library and Medieval Buildings, Engels in Manchester, London Road Fire Station tours and many others. He was the official tour guide for the world-famous Manchester International Festival in 2015 leading 16 sold-out tours. This is a position which he reprised at the 2017 Manchester International Festival.

When asked about his approach to tours, Schofield has said “I want my guests to leave feeling excited about the topic we’ve covered. I also want them to have a good time and have a bit of a laugh when occasion calls. I want the tour to be memorable and the complete opposite of a bore.”
