Although most of us think that this is the day we have to take our Christmas tree down, it is an important date in many Christian calendars. It is also called Three Kings Day because it was the day a star led the three kings to baby Jesus. It is the Greek word ‘to reveal’, which Jesus was done to the world by this act.
Because this was the day that Jesus was revealed to the world some Christians, particularly Orthodox, celebrate Christmas on the day after the Epiphany (Sunday this year) so it is the most important day. Other Christians, like many in Spain and South America exchange gifts and leave out presents for the three kings, just like at Christmas.
Just make sure you take you tree down by midnight on Saturday otherwise you could have some bad luck this year!
