Global Entrepreneurship Week at Salford

To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week in November, the Enterprise Team at the University of Salford will be running events to celebrate innovators, start-ups, idea 
generators and much more throughout the whole month of November.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is held between 12-16 November 2018 and has been set up  to inspire people through local, national and global activities to take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey. At Salford we will be bringing in high profile entrepreneurs such as Darrin Disley OBE, Vikas Shah MBE who will share their careers stories with students and answer any questions they may have. We are also putting on training sessions and we will have a stand in Maxwell Foyer on the 14 Nov to promote Launch and the weeks' activities. Find out more:  

Enterprise Masterclass: Knowing your Customer

When: 13 November 2018 1:00pm – 2:00pm Venue:Launch Business Incubator, 3rd floor Maxwell Building, Room 335

If you are looking to start a business this session will give you an understanding of your customer, the value of customer trust, how to build it, how to research your market, how to segment your market, and how to increase sales. You will think laterally about customer understanding and break down the marketing mix into stages.

Enterprise Team & Launch @SalfordUni stand  

When: 14 November 12:00pm-2:00pm Venue: Maxwell Foyer 
Come and meet the team behind our new Launch @SalfordUni incubator and learn how to get involved. This will be a chance to find out all about the exciting sessions and how to apply for funding and to be part of our Launch incubator. We will also be giving away our limited edition drinks cups, pens and pendrives! 

Enterprise Stories: Vikas Shah MBE

As part of Global Entrepreneurship week Vikas Shah MBE is giving an inspirational talk
where he shares his enterprising experience. Vikas Shah MBE is one of the UK's 
highest profile entrepreneurs and business commentators.  He holds a Professorship at 
MIT Sloan (The Lisbon MBA), and is an Honorary Professor at University of Manchester.
Vikas is a regular speaker and host at conferences around the world, and consults for 
a wide-range of businesses. Vikas is CEO of Swiscot Group, a diversified international
of 53 Degrees North, a feature film studio. He was awarded an MBE for Services to Business and the Economy in Her Majesty the Queen's 2018 New Year's Honours List.

Enterprise Stories: Darrin Disley OBE

When: 16 November  2018 11.15am - 12.30pm Venue:Launch Business Incubator, 3rd floor Maxwell Building, Room 335

Dr Disley is a lifetime holder of the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion and an adviser,
investor and philanthropist to life science business ventures, social enterprises, and educational schemes aimed at promoting social mobility.Much of  Darrin's work is in and around Cambridge University, where for 11 years he was co-founder and CEO of Horizon Discovery, a UK listed life science business, but he also has strong contacts with the University of Salford from where he holds a BSc in Chemistry.He transformed Horizon Discovery into a global leader in gene editing and gene modulation technologies – taking the formative business from a seed funding in March 2008 through to a peak market capitalisationof £440m in 2017. 
In recent years he was named Cambridge Business Person of the Year twice, UK Quoted 
Company Entrepreneur, UK Life Science Public Company CEO, UK Iconic Male Entrepreneur, 
European Life Science Business Leader and Scrip Biotech and Pharma Executive of Year as well as one of the 100 game-changing disruptive UK entrepreneurs and one of the 100 Faces of a 
Vibrant UK Economy.

The Enterprise Team also run a series of Enterprise Masterclasses and Business Bootcamps, all sessions you can get involved in now.
