Get Involved: Dementia Action Week, 21 - 27 May 2018
Next week is Dementia Action Week, the Alzheimer's Society's annual awareness raising campaign, and here at Salford we have many activities taking place across campus for people to get involved in.
Of course if you can't make it to these events, you can still donate by supporting our 'Proud to Believe in Life Beyond Dementia' crowdfunding campaign.
The Power of Music: An afternoon of interactive music performances
Mon 21 May, 12 - 3pm
University of Salford MediaCityUK Campus - Room 3.07
An afternoon of interactive music held in collaboration with Nordoff Robbins aimed to celebrate music and dementia. Includes performances by Nordoff Robbins and Music In Hospital & Care, who will be demonstrating their work with people living with dementia, and also Empowered Conversations who use music to work with carers of people with dementia to promote interactions and conversation.

Living with Dementia: How the media, arts and society influence public views about dementia
Mon 21 May, 5.30 - 7.30pm
University of Salford Media City Campus - Digital Performance Lab on the ground floor
An evening of debate with alumnus, actor and star of the Alzheimer's Research UKs marketing campaign, Christopher Eccleston. The panel consists of accomplished academics leading research into dementia care, ambassadors from the Alzheimer’s Society and dementia associates.

Dementia Action Week Sportathon
Wed 23 May, 10am – 4pm
Outside Santander branch, Peel Park campus
Come and help us raise funds for Dementia Action Week, while testing your own endurance! Staff and students will be using exercise bikes or rowing machines to exercise a km for every person living with dementia in Salford. Money raised will go to the Salford Institute for Dementia, our dedicated research centre, and Santander will be matching all cash donations made on the day!

Alzheimers Research UK North West Public Engagement Event
Wed 23 May, 12 - 6pm
Peel Park Campus – Cockcroft, Lady Hale, Clifford Whitworth Library and a gazebo!
A family friendly afternoon of science lab tours, interactive sessions, exhibitions, performances and talks.
Dementia friends drop-in information sessions will also be taking place every half hour at the Clifford Whitworth Library between 1-4pm.
