Get Active with Team Salford
With the New Year fully in flow, it is time to think about getting rid of the extra mince pies and alcohol you may have consumed during the festive period. Luckily, we have a lot of ways for you to get active at Salford!
Whether you fancy going for a swim, to the gym, joining an exercise class or even joining a sports team, Team Salford has something for you. All of our activities are offered at affordable rates for students and provide excellent value for money.
Situated next to University House on Peel Park campus, the sports centre is home to 5 fitness suites, a swimming pool, squash courts, a fitness studio and of course a sports hall. Membership starts from a little as £13 per month for a Choice membership and £19 for an All in One membership. With the Choice membership, members get the choice of picking one from the following:
- the five fitness studios
- swimming pool (Including Sauna and Spa)
- all the fitness classes
- squash court hire.
Whilst with the All in One membership you get everything mentioned above and free gym induction and a personal programme. However, if you prefer to pay everything up front for the full year, then you are essentially getting a month free as you would only pay for 11 months!
There are over 40 different sports clubs to join here at Team Salford, all which are run by your fellow university students. Most of the clubs hold weekly sessions and participate in competitions all throughout the year. Not only is this a great way to get active but it also a fantastic way to develop your skills by volunteering to be on a sports committee. You can help out with absolutely anything from coaching, all the way to organising social events or even looking after the club’s finances. Can't find a club which represents your favourite sport? Then why not start a club! We'll provide you with everything you need to know about starting a club and support you through the process.
We have very popular Campus Leagues in 11-a-side Football, Futsal, Netball and Badminton, where you can enter your own team. Represent your hall, society, course, or simply round up some of your mates – everyone is welcome.
If you want something that is more casual and doesn’t require any commitment, then why not come down to one our Give Sport A Go session? Restarting on the 28th Jan, our sessions provide a non-competitive and social environment to participate in regardless of your ability. We have a wide range of activities including badminton, football and even Pole Fitness. Best of all it is FREE!!!!
Sports Officials Programme
Finally, if you wish to earn some pocket money whilst learning new skills and keeping fit, then why not become a sports official. We are currently looking for students to officiate in our clubs and Campus Leagues. For more details please email USSU-TeamSalford@salford.ac.uk
