If you’re a first year student to Salford and staying on campus for Christmas this year, this blog is perfect for you! Manchester and Salford have some great events going on this year during the holiday season and this blog will break down all the latest and greatest for you! Come along for the journey!
The Award-Winning Manchester Christmas Markets
One of the best events going on in Manchester during the holiday season is the award-winning Manchester Christmas markets, which are returning this year with over 300 stalls and chalets spread across the city centre, from Albert Square, to St. Ann’s Square, to Market Street.
This year, all the markets will be open effective Friday, November 9th until Saturday, December 22nd in the run up to Christmas. Each set of markets spread across the city all open at 10am and close at 8pm, except for the larger market located in Albert Square (pictured above), which closes at 9pm daily.
What can you expect at the markets you ask?
Everything from internationally acclaimed food and beverages to Christmas toys for younger kids to gifts of all sizes and prices ranges for the entire family! So not only will you be going for an absolute treat of a time, but you can also mark your Christmas shopping off your list as well! If you’re interested in going, check out Manchester City Council’s helpful planning guide with map routes and more information here.

The UK’s only FREE light festival!
