Postgraduate Research Experience Survey 2015

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) opens for Salford PGR students on Monday 2 March 2015. Eligible students will be sent an email inviting them to take part in the survey. The survey will be open until Tuesday 31 March 2015.

What is PRES?

PRES surveys your' experience of studying at Salford on a postgraduate research programme. The feedback and data from the survey are used to improve the PGR student experience. PRES is a nation-wide survey, so taking part also allows us to compare our results with those of other universities.

PRES is open to PhD and Doctoral student as well as Research Masters students, Part-time and full-time, distance and face-to-face, home and international students.

In the last round of PRES over 48,000 students took part from over 120 HE providers – nearly half of all research postgraduates in the UK.

Why should students take part?

This is your opportunity to provide in-depth feedback on your PGR experience. Your responses will help us make improvements in the PGR student experience. PRES is a very effective and comprehensive way for you to provide feedback on your course and other aspects of being a student at Salford.

How does it work?

The survey asks you 39 multiple choice and free text questions. Respondents are asked to provide details about their course, motivation to study at postgraduate level and background. You are also asked to rate your agreement with a series of statements from 'definitely agree' to 'definitely disagree'. There is also a free text section where you can expand further on the answers you have given. It should take you no more than 10-15 minutes to complete the survey.

The answers will then be analysed to see where our strengths lie, where improvements should be made, and how we rate against other institutions in the HE sector.

How do I take part?

Eligible students will be emailed a personal invitation to take part in the survey, sent to both University and personal email accounts. The email will contain a link which lets you log in directly to the survey. If you don't receive the email or have accidentally deleted it, you can still complete the survey:
