Your Big Chance to become Manchester’s newest radio DJ

Key 103, in partnership with the University, are giving you the chance to become the host of a brand new Friday night show.

‘Your Big Chance’ officially launched today at the University of Salford’s MediaCityUK campus and over six weeks will seek out the best new radio talent from across the North West. You will be able to submit videos explaining why you should be the next Key 103 host from Monday 28th of September to Sunday 11th October. If you're over 18 and from the North West you can apply.

Here's what you need to do:

To be in with a chance, upload a 30 second video all about YOU. Talk about your interests, your career to date, your ambitions and whatever you'd like to tell us about YOU.

You can use our own professional TV studios at our Media City campus to help create your audition tape. You can book a slot on Wednesday 7 October or Thursday 8 October between 5pm and 7pm to use our studio and equipment.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, please contact Fiza Ikram. 15 minute slots will be given to students to record their auditions. Please email and BOOK NOW!

Our group of expert judges, drawn from across the world of media, will then make the final decision on who will get their big chance to become Manchester’s newest radio host.  The winner’s first live show will be broadcast on Friday 30th October.

The ‘Your Big Chance’ judging panel includes Key 103, Radio City and Rock FM DJ Michael Blades who landed his dream job after winning a similar competition.

Michael Blades said; “Your Big Chance is such a fab opportunity to not only get your foot in the door of an extremely competitive industry, but to immediately land you on-air on some of the UK's most prestigious radio stations. My big break into radio came from winning a similar competition where the prize was one on-air show. Over 5 years on and I'm very lucky to still be presenting and I love it. This really is Your Big Chance! Good luck.

The University of Salford’s Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment, John McCarthy added; “I am delighted that the University of Salford has been able to team up with Bauer to find the North West’s newest DJ. University of Salford is number one in the North West for students looking to study Film, TV and Radio so this is a natural partnership for us. As a University we recognise the importance of real world opportunities and working in partnership with Bauer, a global media company, to provide a new voice to stations Key 103, Radio City and Rock FM is really exciting.”

Anyone interested in radio or hosting a show should also get in contact with Shock Radio. The student-led radio station has recently moved into plush new studios inside University House and is looking for presenters for the new academic year. Check out their website here for more information.
