RTS Technology and the TV Production/Journalism Bursaries
Royal Television Society offers two bursary schemes which will be open for applications until 30 June 2019. RTS would love to get an influx of students, both First Year and prospective, to apply from our relevant courses.
The Royal Television Society is keen to encourage the most talented Engineering, Computer Sciences, Physics and Maths undergraduates to consider a career in television. Competition to recruit highly skilled graduates in these fields is strong and many may be unaware of the career opportunities that television and media industries have to offer. Successful applicants receive one thousand pounds per year of study, plus the chance to gain an insight into career opportunities in the industry. They will also be provided with membership of the RTS and h Club London while studying as well as RTS membership for a further year after graduation. They will take part in our annual ‘Summer Tour’ of the industry, visiting ten television and broadcasting infrastructure companies: Arqiva, BBC, Channel 4, The IET, ITV, Netgem, Sky, STV Virgin Media and Youview.
TV Production/Journalism Bursary
This bursary, worth one thousand pounds per year of study, is for students from low income households studying Television Production, Journalism or related courses. It is open to new and first year students and provides financial support and mentoring. There are between 25 and 30 awards made each year. All successful applicants receive free membership of the Royal Television Society. Furthermore, for students interested in current affairs, journalism or documentary production, Applications will be considered for one of two Steve Hewlett awards, worth an extra one thousand.
