Relaunch of our LGBT+ Staff and Postgraduate Students Network

You’re invited to the first meeting of a newly reformed and re-energised LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Staff and Postgraduate Network. We’re looking for volunteers amongst our staff and postgraduate students to become part of a coordinating committee to establish what members would like, and to vote on a new network name that will reflect our community and purpose.

Who are we and what’s our purpose?

We’re a resource for the rich diversity of LGBT+ identified staff and postgraduate students across our campuses. We welcome all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, non-binary staff and postgraduate students as well as anyone who may have an interest or wish to support colleagues, friends and relatives.  We also encourage those with 'multiple identities' or people questioning their sexual orientation to find out more and to join in with the work and activities we’re organising.

We’ll also work with the Workforce Inclusion Committee (WIC) and consult on policy development or issues that may arise.

We plan to organise a range of events throughout the year, including social activities and discussions, but it’s your group so we’d love to hear what you’d like to see.

Get involved

Our first meeting is at 12.15 - 1pm on Monday 23 October, in the Seminar Room (7.02) on the 7th Floor of New Adelphi.  We’ll provide a sandwich lunch; please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

One of the discussion points will be the new name of the Network, so please bring your thinking caps, ideas and suggestions.

Get in touch with the Interim Chair Graham Rimmer to confirm your attendance or find out more; email or call 0161 295 2487.

All responses will be treated as confidential.

We look forward to seeing you there!

If you are an undergraduate student, then you’re welcome to join Salford Uni LGBTQ+ Society. Postgraduate students can join either the LGBTQ+ Student Society, be part of the new staff network… or both – whatever is more appropriate for you.
