Life beyond dementia - fundUS

Proud to believe in life beyond dementia

Last year The University of Salford launched their crowdfunding platform, FundUS, with the aim of continuing their strong tradition of raising funds for student-led projects in Salford and across the globe. The platform is a vehicle for campus and community projects to be funded through peer-to-peer fundraising.

Our exciting new crowdfunding project launched on the 16th April, which will be raising donations for The Salford Institute for Dementia Hub. The Salford Institute for Dementia are proud to be changing the way people live with Dementia. During Dementia Action Week, 21-27th May, we aim to work towards creating a dementia friendly world through providing people living with dementia the facilities and support to live well.

The Dementia Hub was opened in 2017 due to the generosity of philanthropic support. It is an excellent space for people living with dementia and their care partners, to gain a sense of community and to provide the facilities they need to live well. The Hub organises clubs and cafes, with a  range of activities that promote humanity and personhood, to ultimately enhance the lives of people living with dementia and their care supporters. These activities provide informal peer and professional support whilst also encouraging socializing and fun. The hub creates a community where everyone  feels valued and supported. One of our members explained why the hub is so important to them...

‘The hub is a safe, calm environment for people living with dementia and their carers to escape to, and being involved with the good life club comes with its own benefits - chance to garden, be in the fresh air and to create something beautiful’

During Dementia Action Week, we want to make a difference, through being able to give the Dementia Hub the resources they need to continue changing the way people live with dementia.
