Lenten activities on campus – all welcome

Our Chaplaincy team will be holding a series of opportunities for you to observe during Lent.

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and charity which Christians observe in preparation for Easter. You can read more about this Holy Season here

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (14th February) and lasts for 40 days. 

On Ash Wednesday there will be a Catholic Service and Imposition of Ashes at 1.05pm

On Thursday 15th February there will be a Church of England Communion service with Imposition of Ashes (1.05pm-1.30pm)

Both services will be held in the Chapel, Faith Centre, University Road.

Observing Lent:

Tuesdays: The Catholic Chaplaincy will be holding Lenten Service followed by a discussion/ Stations of the Cross each Tuesday in Lent from 6pm;

Thursdays: The Anglican Chaplaincy will hold their weekly Thursday Communion service at 1.05pm, followed by a Lenten discussion at 1.30-2pm with refreshments. All are welcome to these, and the weekly themes are:

Lent 1:    22nd February - CHANGE

Lent 2:    1st March - BREAD

Lent 3:    8th March - LIGHT

Lent 4:    15th March - LIFE

Fridays: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 11.45am-12.45pm in the Chapel, Faith Centre for anyone who wishes to drop in. There will also be a Catholic service on Fridays at 1pm followed by refreshments.

Online Lent Course:

For those who are unable to get to the chaplaincy, you are welcome to join us in Lenten prayer and reflection online by following the readings and questions the Anglican chaplaincy will be using each Thursday. These will be posted each week on the University Chaplaincy Service Facebook page: Anyone following the course online is welcome to drop into the Thursday discussion group any week they are able.
