Improvements to parking on campus

In September we introduced a new way to pay for your parking whilst on campus. As with any new system, there has been a period of ‘bedding in’ and we have listened to your feedback. As a result we have introduced a range of improvements which build on our fundamental goals of making parking spaces easier to find and more flexible to pay for.

In the New Year you will have the option to purchase a monthly permit on the PayByPhone app. We will be installing three pay and display machines at Irwell Place, Mary Seacole and Frederick Road, giving you an alternative if your battery runs out or charge or if you have spare change that you want to use up.

The number of parking spaces available to those using the PayByPhone app will also increase, with the Lowry 1 car park now open to app users.

Did you know that car parking at Farmer Norton, near the former Adelphi Building, is half price? Monthly permits are just £12 and daily tickets are £2.

If you do use the PayByPhone app to purchase your permit, please ensure you fill in the correct car park number, which can be found at each car park around campus, and enter the correct registration number – you can enter up to three different car registrations. Any permits purchased must be displayed in your dashboard, and can be used seven days a week between 9am and 10pm. The PayByPhone app is available on IOS, Android, Google Play and Blackberry World.

We’ll keep you updated with information on parking next semester, which will help you to get the best out of the new system and avoid parking penalties.
