Security taster lecture with Dr Dan Lomas

Do you have an interest in Politics or Modern History?

If you are thinking of degree in the subject area, don’t miss a special taster lecture from the University of Salford’s Dr Dan Lomas on Tuesday 9 February at 4pm.

The session will last no more than an hour and give you an amazing opportunity to experience the type of learning you might experience at university.

What is Security?

Security is important. In everyday life, speeches by politicians, government reports, journalists all talk of ‘security threats’. But what does the word 'security' actually mean, and what are the major threats facing the UK today?

In this session, Dr. Dan Lomas from the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology looks at how security has been viewed in the past and looks at the threats going forward, suggesting that ideas about security have been restricted and cover more than just 'things military'.

In this session, we will discuss the significant threats we face today and explore how attitudes to security change.
