As course tutors, meeting our applicants is one of the best parts of our jobs. That's why, if you are unable to join us at one of our Open Days, we're giving you the opportunity to chat to us online

Join us from 16:00 on Wednesday 13 October to chat to the tutors from your chosen course and find out more about studying at Salford.

Select your course

Use the drop-down list below to find out when your course sessions take place - if your course has a Foundation Year or a Professional Experience option, it will be included with the main sessions.

When you first enter a session, a microphone and camera test may pop up and, if prompted, please allow Collaborate (this is the software we use to run our online events) to access these or you may not be able to hear the presentation. Don't worry, no one will be able to see or hear you as we will not enable your microphones and cameras.

FAQs

How does it all work?

What happens on the day?
This page is your hub for the event, and everything you want to do can be done from here. You can access the sessions using the course drop down above. When you click on any of the session links, you will be directed to a virtual room with the tutors from your chosen course.

We use a system called Blackboard Collaborate for our events. Blackboard is the virtual learning environment we use at Salford, and you’ll become very familiar with it when you start your course.

You don’t need a microphone or a camera for this event, the only thing you will need is to use Google Chrome as your browser.

How do I ask questions during a talk?

Using Google Chrome, click on the link for the session you want to access and it will open in a new tab while leaving this event hub page open for you.

When you join your session, you’ll be asked to add your name and that’s all you need to do. You may also see a microphone and camera test pop up the first time you open a session – you don’t need to worry about this as microphones and cameras will not be enabled. When prompted, please ensure you allow Collaborate to access these or you may not be able to hear the presentation.

If you experience audio problems when you enter any of the sessions, you can also dial into the session using your mobile phone. To do this, please click on the menu button in the top left-hand corner and select 'use your phone for audio'. This will provide you with a unique phone number and pin that will allow you to dial into the session

You can leave the session at any point, if you have clicked into the wrong one don't worry. If you click in the top left hand corner there is an option to leave the session, this will prevent any audio issues when you enter the next session.

Event Information

How long does the event last?
The event will run, for most courses from 16:00-17:00, please use the course drop down to see your session times. You can join at any time as this is a drop in session.

I need help
If you are having any technical issues or problems during the event, please use the Virtual Information Desk icon to speak to a member of the team who will be able to help you.

If you’d like to get in touch with any questions after the event, drop us an email or ring us on +44 (0)161 295 4545.

Can my parent/carer/supporter attend the event?
Yes, just as they may have attended a face to face event with you, your supporters can join the online event.

Are you offering any on campus events?

Yes, we have just had our first on campus open day in two years and it was great to see so many people back on campus. For further information on open days and campus tours events please visit our Undergraduate events page
