I was brought up in a bilingual household in Spain and went through the Spanish Education system until the age of 18. I completed my first degree in French an European Studies at he University of Liverpool. I was awarded an AHRB scholorship to fund an MA in Translation at the University of Salford. My dissertation was on the translation of cultural terms in fiction. I then worked as an EFL teacher in France and Spain in both the public and private sector. After returning to the UK i started working as a lecturer in the FE sector teaching ESOL and Spanish whilst studying for a Cambrdge DELTA and level 4 teaching qualification for FE. I began working for the University of Salford in 2007 and have worked mostly for the EFL section but also for the Spanish department. Since then i have also studied postgraduate modules in Conference interpreting at the Universty of Salford.


I have taught in the Summer intensive pre-sessional courses at Liverpool and Bangor Universities.

I have taught on a variety of EFL programmes at Salford University including the International Foundation Year. the EAP modules for both undergraduates and postgraduats, the Graduate Diploma in Business and English and English Study Programme.

Research Interests

Translation of cultural terms in fiction.

Learner vocabulary size and knowledge of acronyms. I am helping with the Salford Vocabulary Research Project.

Training students to meet the expectations of English Acadmic Culture.
