PhD opportunities

We welcome enquiries from able and highly motivated students with good first degrees in the following subjects:

  • Engineering (any) or physics
  • Psychology
  • Any of the allied health professions

We are interested in supervising students in relevant areas, including:

  • The use of body-worn monitors in the evaluation of health interventions.
  • Development of outcome measures based around free-living physical behaviour patterns in clinical populations
  • Upper limb prosthetics (design and evaluation)
  • Lower limb prosthetics (design and evaluation)
  • Biomechanical modelling of gait
  • Walking aid use
  • Functional electrical stimulation
  • Falls prediction
  • Falls monitoring
  • Development of analysis techniques for free-living physical behaviour data
  • Pattern recognition in Physical Behaviour data
  • Monitoring physical behaviour changes in people with Dementia
  • Usability of assistive technologies
