The effect of commercially available footwear interventions on biomechanical outcomes associated with knee osteoarthritis in meniscectomy patients
Who can participate?
We are currently recruiting individuals aged between 18 and 35 years who play or compete in sport regularly. We are recruiting two groups of individuals to participate in this study:
A) Individuals who are healthy and have not previously sustained a lower body injury.
B) Individuals who have recently sustained a meniscal injury during a sporting manoeuvre.
What is required?
You will be asked to visit the Performance Capture Laboratory at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance for a three hour visit. You will undertake a biomechanical assessment of sport specific movements in a number of footwear conditions. This assessment will enable us to understand how your movement and loading varies on footwear interventions.
If you would like to register your interest in this study and find out more about the study, please complete the form below. We will then contact you to discuss the study further and to discuss your eligibility.
How often do you compete/ play in sport each week?
Which sports do you regularly participate in?
Please tick all that applies
If other, please specify.
Which is the highest level that you have competed at?
How many years have/did you compete at this level?
Previous Injury History
Have you sustained a meniscal injury within the last 6 months?
Have you previously sustained an injury to your lower body (e.g. hip injury, ankle sprain, ACL injury)?
If yes, please specify
Include information such as location, type of injury, treatment e.g. surgery/ physiotherapy, length of recovery, how long ago you sustained the injury.
Are you comfortable in performing sport-specific tasks such as landing, squating and changing direction?
Would you be happy for us to contact you about similar and/or future studies?
