The Quality and Enhancement Office supports two recording booths in Maxwell Building. The rooms can be booked by staff for the recording of screen captures, voice overs, and short pieces to camera. All staff will need a quick introductory demonstration of the equipment and software in the room before your first recording.
The rooms are located inside the Salford Language Resource Centre on the 9th floor of Maxwell Building. We have Booth C and Booth D.
Entrance to the Centre on 9th floor of Maxwell building, just by the buildings central lift.
Inside the Salford Language Centre.
The location and construction of the Booths gives you a quiet recording venue with minimal disturbance.
Please call the Staff Digital Skills team to book out one of the rooms and arrange your initial demonstration on 0161 295 6682.
Both booths are setup ready for you to get started. You simply need to logon to the PC, open Screencast-o-Matic and get going with your test recording (we recommend always starting with a test just to make double everything is working e.g. the audio is picking up).
Equipment in the rooms includes a networked PC with Screencast-O-Matic ready to run, a high quality Webcam and microphone, a Writing pad/tablet so you can make recordings of handwriting, lighting and a plain background. There is also a telephone (in case you need help).
The room is well soundproofed, so you can achieve high quality recordings.
The USB Snowball microphone.
The Screencast-o-Matic software is ideal for recording voice over slides and any screen based content. MP4 files are produced which you can load onto our Medial video server for sharing on Blackboard.
