Mobile first, desktop second.

Smartphones and tablet devices are well established in our daily routine, so there is huge scope to integrate these technologies into the learning journey. To ignore the presence of mobile devices is to miss opportunities for greater engagement through embracing the flexibility they offer.

The simple truth is that ‘learning’ is no longer restricted to the confines of a lecture room or sat at desk with a text book – it can take place anywhere, anytime, for any length of time.
Recognising that both staff and students are already using these devices, the Digital Skills Team offer support in a number of exciting areas;
Blackboard VLE There is a Blackboard Mobile app available for iOS, Android & Blackberry devices.  The Digital Skills Team can help you download, install and start to use the features available, as well as understand what you can do with your modules to make enhance them for mobile use by students too.

Assessment & marking  Turnitin has many benefits for submission and grading of assignments, with tools for marking and feedback.  But it’s limited to needing an internet connection, which limits when and where you can undertake marking.  However, if you have an iPad, there is a Turnitin app which seamlessly integrates all the marking and feedback tools and synchronises assignments do you can, if needed, work wherever you are.
