The QEO is responsible for developing and maintaining a robust institutional regulatory framework for the management of academic quality and standards. We achieve this through a set of effective, flexible and streamlined policies and procedures. These are commensurate with University strategic aims in relation to education and the student experience, growth and diversification, and international priorities.
The QEO works with Schools to support their implementation of the regulatory framework by providing both advice and guidance and transactional support, particularly in programme approval and collaborative provision. The QEO also leads the University’s enhancement activities in academic practice, learning technologies and digital capabilities through workshops, one-to-one and online support. We deliver the HEA-accredited PG Certificate in Academic Practice which graduates some 60 staff members per annum and which also confers Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
We aim to be responsive to School needs and to build and consolidate credible and professional relationships with the academic and professional services communities at all levels, fostering an environment which supports engagement in and contribution to the quality and enhancement agenda.
