How to find us

We would always encourage you to make use of public transport wherever possible. The main university campus is just 2km from Manchester city centre on the A6, and is well-served by Salford Crescent train station. There are also regular bus services both into and out of Manchester.

Train

Salford Crescent train station is located in the middle of our campus, between our Peel Park and Frederick Road sites, making us very easy to get to by rail. Trains from both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria run through the station regularly, as well as from Manchester Airport, Blackpool, Southport, Wigan, Blackburn, Preston and Huddersfield. The station is fully accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles.

Bus

The Crescent/A6 runs alongside our campus and is a major bus route into and out of Manchester city centre. There are several stops for our campus, so see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer to find the best journey for you.

Car

Car parking will be free from 2pm. Select your course above and you’ll find your suggested car park.

Walking

If you feel like stretching your legs and want to get a feel for the area, we’re a pretty easy 15 minute walk from Manchester city centre. From the Arndale Centre, head across the River Irwell to Chapel Street and take a left…that will bring you past Salford Central train station (on your left), Salford Cathedral (a bit further up on your right) and, about half a mile later, right to our doorstep.

By air

Manchester International Airport is 10 miles from the University. There are regular, direct train services to and from Salford Crescent station and Manchester Piccadilly. Buses also link the airport and Manchester city centre. To find the best journey for you, see Transport for Greater Manchester’s Route Explorer.

What to do when you arrive on campus

  • Check in - The first thing to do when you arrive on campus is to head to your designated check-in point and collect your copy of the guide and a refreshment voucher. Check-in points vary by course, so use the drop-down above to find the correct one.
  • Attend your course session - we recommend that you tailor your afternoon around your course session times. Drop-in sessions are taking place for the majority of courses between 4pm and 6pm. Courses offering presentations are listed in the guide with details of the location and time.
  • Join us for a campus tour - we will be running tours on all three campus sites, so you can join one of our student led tours to give you an insight of where you will be studying. Ask us when you check-in for further information on where to join.

Health and Safety on campus

Face coverings

As part of our safety measures, we would ask that all visitors, staff and students wear a face covering when moving around inside our buildings on campus, in corridors and circulation spaces, unless exempt. Masks and hand sanitiser are available at each check in location and there will be regular cleaning throughout the event

We would also encourage all visitors to take a lateral flow test before attending.

Your risk factors

Before coming onto campus, please consider if you fall into a higher risk category for Covid-19. We have provided a link here that provides some further information on who would be considered a higher risk. Whilst we're taking measures to ensure the safety of everyone on campus, if you fall into one or more of these categories, please consider whether it is suitable for you to come along to this event.

If you develop Covid-19 symptoms

If you have booked a place but develop Covid-19 symptoms before you are due to visit, please stay at home and do not visit our campus. Symptoms of Covid-19 can be found here.

Chat with our current students

Many of our students will be supporting the Open Day - some in course sessions and others around campus in their fetching red hoodies - so be sure to ask them about their student experience!

In the meantime feel free to chat with our students here and ask any questions you may have about their university experience. Click the arrow on the right to move through the student profiles.
