Biography
I am an early career researcher; I have spent the last ten years building and running a small multidisciplinary studio as well as developing a career in FE & HE education. My specialist area of research and practice is editorial design, branding and book arts.
My research focus is arts value methods; there is currently no agreed approach for valuing creative practice, nor is there a generally accepted conceptual framework to support this. At a basic level, the vocabulary to articulate and express the value of creative practice is fragmented and confined to practice silos, such as fashion, architecture or different types of fine art or design. Many see the value of creative practice as fundamental to the identity of art practitioners and how ‘audiences’ perceive themselves. Others consider the question as a window onto much wider issues of what is socially and publicly valued. My PhD seeks to find common ground and develop a conceptual framework to address this
