Programme Leader: Film, TV and Stage Design Programme Leader: Costume Design
After studying Interior Design at Kingston University my career started in London working on commercial interior design projects. I later joined the BBC in London as an Art Director.
I moved to Manchester when offered a staff position at the BBC. I art directed a variety of prestigious productions such as Making Out and Red Dwarf. Later, working as a Production Designer I was responsible for the design of a broad range of drama, documentary and lifestyle productions.
After 10 years at the BBC I left to work free-lance. I continued designing for the BBC but also ITV and other independent production companies where I designed broadcast commercials and corporate events.
I then headed a small design team for Granada’s Satellite Broadcasting Channel and was responsible for production design across several satellite channels before moving into teaching in the HE sector.
I encourage all students to develop designs through experimentation and investigation, I introduce students to a variety of career options within their discipline to broaden interest and increase employment prospects.
I have previously been an H.E. External Examiner, a Link Tutor.
