FAQs

Event information

How long does the event last?

The event runs from 10:00 - 16:00, but the length of your day depends on what you’d like to do. We recommend you attend a Welcome to Salford talk, your Subject Session and a Campus Tour, and any of the Application Support and Student Support sessions that you’re interested in.

Can my parent/carer/supporter attend the event?

Yes! Parents, carers and supporters are welcome to attend with you. Make sure they sign up to our newsletter as well.

Do you have prayer rooms on campus?

The University does have a Faith Centre although this will not be open during the event. However, our check-in team will be able to help you find the closest available space.

Do I need to pay for car parking for the open day?

Free car parking is available for the Open Day on Peel Park and Frederick Road campuses. There is no free parking available at MediaCity, however we are operating a free shuttle bus from our main campus, so you can take advantage of the free parking there.

Do you have support for students with a disability?

Yes. If you have a disability, please contact us to discuss your access requirements. We’ll then work with you to do everything we can to support you on the day. The askUS team will also be available throughout the Open Day to discuss the support available to you throughout your time studying at Salford.

You can check our campus for its accessibility using AccessAble's assessment of our campus and facilities

You can also find out more about accessibility on campus and the Disability and Learner Support team on our website.

We do offer a range of accessible accommodation, although please be aware that for this event you may not be able to view the rooms due to current occupancy. You are welcome to chat to both the Disability and Learner Support team and Campus Living Village staff about the facilities available.

Open Day Travel Bursary

How do I claim my Open Day Travel Bursary?

To help ease the challenges of getting to the event, and to offset some of the cost of travelling to the Open Day, we’re offering travel awards of up to £40 to each prospective student. If you live in Greater Manchester, we'll contribute £15 to the cost of your visit; for anyone coming from further afield, we'll contribute £40.

Application enquiries

How do I apply?

The majority of our undergraduate applications are made via UCAS: your school or college should help you access this service, and will give you a buzzword which you will need in order to register. You can also use this service if you’re applying independently, both in the UK and overseas. Applications for 2023 entry are open now.

I need help with my personal statement

We're holding a UCAS process session during the Open Day where we will discuss the process of applying through UCAS including hints and tips on what to include in your personal statement. You can also find guidance on writing your personal statement on our website

What is the deadline to make an application?

The deadline for applications for September 2023 entry is 25 January 2023. We’ll keep you updated with important dates and deadlines throughout the cycle, so keep an eye on your emails!

My course is taught at Salford City College, can I still attend the open day?

Yes, of course! There won’t be a Subject Session for your course, however you’re still welcome to join any of the other sessions and to take a campus tour.
