What to expect

At the Open Day you will have the opportunity to attend lots of sessions to give you an idea of what studying at the University of Salford is like. From course presentations, to campus tours and student finance and support sessions, there will be plenty to do to give you a real feel of the University. You can now download a copy of the Open Day guide containing all of the sessions on offer to allow you to plan your day.

If you've got any questions at all about the event, please contact us using the details at the bottom of the page.

Check-In

On the day, you will check-in to your relevant campus. Select your course from the drop-down below to find out where to check-in and where best to park on the day. Once you arrive you will be given a copy of the guide, a voucher to grab a free drink, and pointed in the right direction for any sessions you want to attend.

Attend your course session

Most courses will be running multiple sessions throughout the day, giving you an opportunity to attend different course sessions if you're not quite sure which one you want to study yet. Select the course you're interested in from the drop-down menu below to find out which campus it is based on and the timings of the sessions for that course.

Attend general sessions

There will be lots of general sessions taking place throughout the day from presentations to drop-ins. For example, you can attend a presentation with our askUS team about finance and student support, join one of our talks on applying to university, or drop-in to chat with our Students' Union, plus lots more. You can find the location and timings of all these sessions in the Open Day guide now.

Take a tour

There will be plenty to see on the day so why not take tour of our campuses, with one of our friendly student ambassadors? You will be able to take a look at our accommodation sites - Peel Park Quarter and John Lester/Eddie Colman and find out where you could be living. We will also offer facilities tours for some of our courses, including our nursing simulation suites and Energy House!

Chat to our students

Our student ambassadors will be supporting the event all day, offering campus tours, taking part in some of our presentations, offering general support and answering any of your questions on the day. Make sure you have a chat with them to find out what studying at the University is really like.

FAQs

Event Information

How long does the event last?

We’ll be here from 09:30 - 16:00, but the length of your day depends on what you’d like to do. All of the academic sessions will be repeated so you can attend more than one session - check out the timings for all course sessions above. There are also some drop in sessions throughout the day to find out more on student life at Salford.

Can my parent/carer/supporter attend the event?

Yes! Parents, carers and supporters are welcome to attend with you.

Do you have prayer rooms on campus?

The University does have a Faith Centre. Unfortunately, this will not be open during the event, but head to the check-in desk on your campus to find the closest available space.

Do I need to pay for car parking for the open day?

Free car parking is available for the Open Day, on Peel Park Campus and Frederick Road campus. Use the How to find the University drop down to find your campus location. There is no free parking available at MediaCity, however we are operating a free shuttle bus from our main campus, so you can take advantage of the free parking there.

Do you have support for students with a disability?

Yes. If you have a disability, please tell us your access requirements. We’ll then work with you to do everything we can to support you on the day. The askUS team will also be available throughout the Open Day to discuss the support available to you throughout your time studying at Salford.

You can check our campus for its accessibility using AccessAble's  assessment of our campus and facilities

You can also find out more about accessibility on campus on our website, or contact us on enquiries@salford.ac.uk.

Please contact disability and learner support for study related support.

We do offer a range of accessible accommodation, although please be aware that for this event you may not be able to view them due to current occupancy. You are welcome to chat to both the disability support team and Campus Living Village staff about the facilities available.

Travel award

As you may be aware, there will be a national rail strike on the day of the Open Day which will cause severe disruption to the rail service. We would therefore advise you to avoid the rail service and take advantage of the many bus routes or car parking spaces available on campus.

To help ease the challenges of getting to the event, and to offset some of the cost of travelling to the Open Day, we’re offering travel awards of up to £40 to each prospective student. If you live in Greater Manchester, we'll contribute £15 to the cost of your visit; for anyone coming from further afield, we'll contribute £40. Just make sure you check-in at the event and have your QR code scanned, then we will send out a form and details how to complete this after the event.
