What does it mean if my course is accredited?
Degree accreditation is acknowledgement, by an external body, that a programme meets a defined set of criteria.
Our BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management degree is accredited by external bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).
How will I be assessed during my course?
Across our built environment programmes, you will be assessed using a combination of methods, including design projects, essays, precedent studies, case study analysis and examinations.
Will the university help me to find work experience and industry placements?
Yes. Although you will be ultimately responsible for securing your own work experience and industry placements, our tutors will guide and support you through the process.
Thanks to our strong local industry connections and the current construction boom in Greater Manchester, there are lots of opportunities on our doorstep. Where possible, we can use these connections to assist you in securing a placement.
What career opportunities will be open to me once I graduate?
There is a huge demand for qualified surveyors, project managers and construction technologists, both in the UK and internationally. As a trained professional, you can expect to find roles in a wide range of organisations, including construction companies, project management consultancies, and government departments.
Our built environment alumni have progressed on to work at leading industry organisations, including: Lend Lease, Kier, Laing O'Rourke, Simons Construction Ltd, Balfour Beatty, Gleeds Construction Consultants, National Grid, Delouitte Real Estate, Savills and Skanska.
My A-levels are not construction related, will this be a disadvantage?
Not at all - our construction students come with a wide range of qualifications and backgrounds.
We've specifically designed the early parts of our courses to give you a great insight into all areas of the industry, and then in later years, we enhance your knowledge with more industry-focused knowledge.
When will I receive my timetable and what can I expect from the course delivery?
You will receive your personalised timetable during induction when you start in September.
Our Construction courses have a number of different delivery options. Typically you would study three subjects or modules between Sept - Jan and three more between Jan - June. All modules have a four-hour timetabled slot allocated each week and within that period you will experience a mix of formal lectures, tutorials, case studies and practical exercises.
