I've applied - what's next?

International Student Outside Peel Building

Thank you for applying to study at the University of Salford. Now that you’ve submitted your application, use this page to find out what happens next.

Track your application

How you can track your application depends on the method you used to apply:

I applied directly on the Applicant Portal: If you applied directly on our portal, once you have submitted your application, you will receive a notification email confirming that your application has arrived safely. This email should arrive within around 5 minutes of your submission – please check your junk folder if you have not received this notification and please ensure that the email address you provide is valid and current.

We will contact you once your application has been received, and again when a decision has been made.

You can track your application by logging into the Applicant Portal. If your application is successful, you will be able to download the offer letter from here. You will also be sent an email with your offer letter.

My agent applied for me: If you applied through an agent, they will be able to log into our application portal to track your application for you, and advise you of the outcome.

I applied via UCAS: For undergraduate students who applied through UCAS, the simplest way to monitor the progress of your application is via UCAS Track, which updates your application status as soon as any changes occur.

Getting your offer

If your application is successful, you will receive an offer letter outlining our Terms and Conditions, and details of any conditions that you are expected to meet before you can register.

There are two types of offers you can receive: an unconditional offer or a conditional offer.

  • An unconditional offer means you have already satisfied the requirements for entry, and we have accepted you as a student.

  • A conditional offer means there are some outstanding conditions you need to meet before we can accept you as a student. Offer conditions could include; submitting exam results, or proof of English language, providing a portfolio and paying a study deposit. The conditions of your offer will be detailed in your offer letter. If your offer is conditional upon academic results, proof of English language or an ATAS, you should provide these to us as soon as possible.  If you applied using the Applicant Portal, please upload your documents to the Applicant Portal. Or if you didn't apply using the applicant portal, please send this information to applications@salford.ac.uk stating your full name, date of birth and your student ID number (your student ID number can be found at the top of your offer letter from Salford and is written in the following format: @00XXXXXX).

Important timescales and deadlines

If you receive a conditional offer from us, you will need to follow our instructions for meeting your offer conditions if you want to secure your place on the course.

The process is slightly different for undergraduate and postgraduate students:

Postgraduate students:
Due to the popularity of our courses, it is not feasible for us to provide specific deadlines by which you must meet your offer conditions. Instead, we will confirm places to postgraduate offer-holders on a first-come, first-served basis. It is therefore strongly recommended that you meet the academic conditions of your offer as soon as possible. Once you have met all the academic conditions you will have to pay your deposit as the last condition to secure your place on your course.

Undergraduate students:
To secure your place on your course, you will need to meet your conditions (including paying your deposit) before the deadline before the deadline we specify on our application deadlines page

If you applied via UCAS, you can find more information about the deadlines you need to meet on the UCAS website

Replying to your offer

Accepting your offer

Whether your offer is conditional or unconditional, you will need to confirm whether you wish to accept your place with us, or if you wish to decline or defer your place to a different academic year. How you do this depends on how you applied in the first place:

I applied directly on the Applicant Portal: You can choose to accept, defer or decline your offer by logging into the Applicant Portal. To help guide you through this process, we have put together a knowledge guide that you can access via the ‘Home’ button at the top of the page on the portal.

My agent applied for me: If you applied through your agent, they will be able to accept or decline your offer for you, so please let them know what you want to do.

I applied through UCAS: If you applied through UCAS, you should reply to your offers through UCAS Track. You can find more information about replying to your UCAS undergraduate offers

If you're unsure about anything or have any questions, please email enquiries@salford.ac.uk and they will be happy to help.

Applying for your Student visa

Students socialising

To apply for your visa, you must have an unconditional offer to study here and you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from us, to show that we will be your immigration sponsor. Once you have met all of your offer conditions, we will get in touch with you with information about how to request your CAS.

Tuition Fee Deposit

Self-funded students

If you’re paying for your studies yourself (including via a bank loan), you must pay a tuition fee deposit before we can give you an unconditional offer. The amount of the deposit and how to pay it will be detailed in your offer letter.

The study deposit will be deducted from the remaining tuition fees you need to pay for the academic year. Payment of your tuition fees can be made in full at registration, or in instalments throughout the year. If you pay your tuition fees in full, you can benefit from a 3% prompt payment discount. Alternatively, if you choose to pay your fees in instalments, you will pay in either 5 or 7 consecutive monthly instalments, depending on what course you are studying. The instalment plan payments will start from the month after you register as a student.

Remember, we offer a range of scholarships for international students, which can help you fund your studies.

You can find more information about how to pay your deposit and about tuition fees on our askUS pages

Sponsored students

If you are funded by an organisation, such as your employer, or government, we will need an official letter from them confirming the full amount of the sponsorship and the invoice details. We recommend that you email income-treasury@salford.ac.uk as early as possible to ensure it is in place before you register. Please make sure you quote your student ID number when you email your funding letter to us.

You can find more information on our askUS pages.

Accommodation

If you've been offered a place to study with us, another important decision you'll make is where you're going to live. Staying in university accommodation can be a great way to make friends and benefit from easy access to campus.

If you are a postgraduate student, we have a selection of accommodation available to you in John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts. Or if you are an undergraduate student, applying for your first year of university, you can choose to live at either Peel Park Quarter or John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts.

Our accommodation is managed by our partner, Campus Living Villages, and you can find more information on the rooms we have available on the CLV website. To contact Campus Living Villages directly, call 0161 850 6664 or email salford@clvuk.com.

If you would prefer to live in private accommodation and not on campus, we recommend using Manchester Student Homes, who can give you free advice about suitable options and can guide you on the process. Please contact them directly for information on their services and to confirm when you can move in.
