North West Finance Award creates opportunity for students to shine

North West Finance Award creates opportunity for students to shine

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Graduating and gaining your degree is one thing, making your way in the world of business is a whole new challenge. Now though, thanks to a partnership between Salford Business School and the prestigious North West Finance Awards, there's a new way for promising students to shine and get noticed.

This year, for the first-time, students studying finance and accounting subjects have been given their very own category at the North West Finance Awards. The new ‘Academic Achievement’ award category will guarantee the finalists a chance in the spotlight and an early accolade to add to their academic qualifications, as well as a chance to meet and network with some of the biggest business names in the North West.

More than 900 of the region’s leading companies will be represented at a glamourous, black-tie awards ceremony to be held at the Macon Stadium, Bolton, on Thursday 1 October 2015.

Simon Walton, Director of the North West Finance Awards, said the relationship with Salford Business School gives the Awards an opportunity to support ambitious young talent.  He said: "The Awards are all about showcasing the best of the region's unsung heroes, but we wanted to get behind the upcoming talent too. Our collaboration with Salford Business School lets us put the spotlight on some of the best graduates”.

Kerry Moores, who divides her time between academic duties and the employability programmes at Salford Business School, said she was delighted to see this new avenue open up for students who are ready to compete for a place in business. She said:

"Both Salford Business School and the North West Finance Awards want the best for the next generation, that's why we are in partnership. It's tough for young students to get themselves spotted, so the chance to get in the same room as hundreds of business people, all with a similar ambitious attitude, is an opportunity not to be missed."

The Awards are open for nominations and close on 24 July. Students studying finance subjects are encouraged to apply by visiting the Awards website:
