Get ready for REF2021
The REF open access policy states that, to be eligible for submission to the next REF, all journal articles and conference proceedings accepted for publication after April 1st 2016 must be deposited in an open access repository (e.g. USIR) within three months of the date of acceptance.
Until April 1st 2018, this deposit deadline has been relaxed to three months from the date of publication. Typically you would upload the author accepted manuscript of your article – the version that incorporates the changes made after peer review but does not include the publisher’s typesetting and formatting.
Compliance with the REF open access policy is the authors’ responsibility, but the library is here to support you. We review every item that is deposited in USIR and will flag any possible compliance issues. We also provide training on using USIR and are happy to answer any questions you might have around making sure your work can be submitted to the REF.
Beyond the open access policy, Research and Knowledge Exchange have put together a collection of resources related to all of the University’s REF-related activities, which includes training opportunities and guidance on all areas of the REF.
