Did you know?

The University of Salford is well connected, with excellent transport links it is easily accessible from all the UK main airports and you can get anywhere in the UK within a few hours.

Salford Crescent train station is a two-minute walk from our Frederick Road and Peel Park sites, with regular trains going into Manchester city centre and beyond.

The closest airport to Salford is Manchester International Airport, which can be reached by train in 30 minutes.

A free bus also runs between our Peel Park and Frederick Road campuses and our MediaCityUK campus.


Life at Salford

We are located in the city of Salford, just a 5 minute drive from Manchester city centre - one of the biggest cities in the UK and recently named "The Best UK City to Live in" (The Economist).

On our main campus you can enjoy our state-of-the-art Sports Centre, or the Students' Union with over 100 clubs and societies to choose from and plenty of food options with our bars and cafes. We also have the beautiful Peel Park next to the river if you want to enjoy a scenic walk or place to sit in-between studying.

Salford has also been named the “Greenest place” to live in England in 2020 and our campus has won the Eco Campus Sustainability Award in 2019.

How much does it cost to study at Salford?

Our postgraduate taught programmes courses cost between £15,030 and £18,990. We have a range of scholarships available to international students. This includes the Salford International Excellence Award which gives high-achieving international students a discount of up to £5,000 on tuition fees.

Do you offer discounts/scholarships on courses?

We offer a range of scholarships and bursaries to support high-achieving international students who are from certain regions, or who are studying certain subjectsWe also offer scholarships through our partner organisations and through the Salford International Excellence Award which provides a discount of up to £5,000. What are the entry requirements for your programmes?

What English language support is available for international students?

We are one of the top 10 University Language Centres in the UK (EL Gazette). We run free year-round British-Council accredited English language courses for international students to support your academic English development. These courses are designed to help you improve your skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

In addition, if you do not meet the English language conditions for entry for entry onto our courses, you may be interested in our Pre-Sessional English programme to help get you prepared for your postgraduate course. You must hold a UKVI IELTS level of 4.0 or above and achieved a general level of education which is adequate for entry into Higher Education.

What opportunities are there for work experience and placements?

Industry is at the heart of everything we do. We form strong partnerships with businesses and organisations from all sectors, working hand-in-hand with them to develop courses that are up-to-date and relevant to today’s challenges. Many of our courses offer work placements as well as opportunities to take part in live briefs, where you’ll work in teams to deliver solutions for real clients.

Some of our business courses also also offer a 9-12 month paid industry placement, giving you the chance to work full-time for an employer. You’ll be paid for your work and you won’t have to pay any tuition fees for the year.

What is the cost of living in the UK/Manchester/Salford?

Salford and Manchester are relatively budget-friendly areas to live, so you can enjoy some of the cheapest public transport costs in the UK as well as great offers on social activities and plenty of choice when it comes to food.

If you live within Greater Manchester, a suggested figure for minimum annual living costs is calculated as no less than £7,084  for a student.
