Dr Ann Newton-Hughes
I have been a member of the Directorate of Radiography since 2001. Amongst my roles I am the Clinical Learning Manager for the undergraduate programme.
My clinical background is that of a diagnostic radiographer and ultrasonographer and my research activities have been related to education and clinical practice.
My teaching is chiefly related to clinical practice and the skills required of professionals in practice e.g. reflection.
I work with a team of clinical tutors from across our placement sites to develop strategies for clinical education looking ahead to meet the changing clinical education requirements for our future radiographers.
I am chair of the Association of Radiography Educators a national committee of clinical and academic staff who provide a series of study days to support the sharing of best practice in radiographer ( therapeutic and diagnostic) clinical education. We also work alongside the Heads of Radiography in developing and delivering a national conference.
My research interests lie with clinical education at all levels of practice including CPD for qualified staff alongside undergraduate education.
I have published work in a variety of journals and have presented and submitted posters to a range of conferences dedicated to radiography, multi-professional practice and e-learning.
My current research centers around radiographer decision making in practice
