School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences has a strong global focus, attracting international students and collaborating with health and social care organisations across the world. We actively encourage partnerships and collaborations with overseas organisations in teaching and learning and in research and enterprise.

We have a thriving research centre which is focused on improving health outcomes through innovation and research, and our research is recognised as internationally excellent and of world leading quality. We support a wide range of research  and many of our staff are invited to present overseas.

Our School is recognised for our teaching quality, with some of our courses achieving 100% student satisfaction rates (such as Exercise, Nutrition and Health and Podiatry), and we're well known for our student support systems which provide a welcoming environment. We welcome international collaborations and partnerships to facilitate students coming to the UK, and to run our programmes overseas.

International students

International students at Salford are supported by the International Society, made up of students from the Universities of Salford, Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, which organises events to assist them in settling into the UK and into the learning culture. The International community provides a forum to share information and to network with other students early in their studies so that they are able to be supported by both the University and the community of international students within the School.

Our School offers one of the largest range of health programmes in the country, offering undergraduate courses in psychology, public health, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, prosthetics and orthotics, and sport and exercise. We also have a broad range of postgraduate taught courses in medicine, and a range of unique specialist health programmes at postgraduate level.

We work with both private and public healthcare providers and have strong partnership links with industries in health technology and sport. This range of partnerships gives the opportunity for our students to gain valuable clinical experience alongside their studies, preparing them for practice.
